Last time we worked our way through April 11th and a few events that are ongoing throughout the month (and ongoing!) Without any more preamble let’s get to it!
April 12th
UA Spring Fling
Is it really spring without a Spring Fling? Head out to the University of Arizona’s tradition of an old-fashioned carnival! With over 20 booths of food, 35 rides, and tons of games to play, the Spring Fling is the largest student-run carnival in the nation! Head on out and partake, it runs until April 14th and all proceeds fundraise for the student groups and organizations. Find out more!
SAHBA Spring Home & Garden Show
Running the same weekend is the Southern Arizona Home Builders Association home and garden show! The Tucson Convention Center will be filled with remodeling and outdoor living ideas, trends, improvement options, styles, and more! There’s free parking! Take a look at their site to see just what is going to be on display. There’s a discount coupon as well that will save you 25%!
April 13th
Annual EGGstravaganza In Mansfield Park
The 20th annual EGGstravaganza is happening from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Mansfield Park off Grant and 6th Ave. It’s a free event for the community with games, prizes, egg hunts, and an appearance from the Easter Bunny! You can find out more, and an even larger calendar of events at the Tucson Parks and Rec site.
Second Saturday – Downtown
From 5:00 PM to 10, take a walk along Congress Street and come out for Second Saturday. The urban street festival features food, music, activities, and people for a family-friendly, free, night out on the town. Few events are so clearly a community like our own Second Saturday. Stop by the music stage at Scot Ave and Congress Street to hear great tunes from local musicians. Find out more here.
April 14th
GABA Spring Bike Swap Meet
Want to go to the largest bike swap in the Southwest? The GABA (Greater Arizona Bicycling Association) is meeting up for its biannual swap meet! Over 30 vendors will be spread out on 7th Street between 4th Ave and 6th Ave, closed off to vehicle traffic. Check out their webpage and find out more!
April 15th
Meet Me at Maynards 10th Birthday
Didn’t make the celebration on the 1st? Well, there’s another opportunity to party at Maynards! On April 15th celebrate Maynards birthday with over 25 performers and bands. Check-in starts at 5:15 PM and then enjoy BBQ, raffles, prizes, and more! Bring your leashed dog too! Full details on their website!
April 23rd
Agave Heritage Festival
Beginning on Aprild 23rd and running into May, the Agave Heritage Festival will pop up all over! From Hotel Congress, to the Tumamoc Hill and others, if you are interested in the cultural, culinary, and commercial significance of the agave plant, well you’re in for a treat. April 30th
Broadway in Tucson: CATS
From April 30th to May 5th Broadway in Tucson presents “CATS.” UA Centennial Hall will play host to the record-breaking Andrew Lloyd Webber musical CATS. The musical tells the tale of the Jellicle tribe of cats, their traditions and the process by which they nominate a new cat to come back to a new life. Recommended for ages 5+ you can purchase tickets here.
